John Waite and I came over to Johnson City in February this year to deliver the finished files for John's masterwork book "The Blue Ridge Stemwinder" to Overmountain Press. It snowed 4" in Johnson City the night we got there, but the weather warmed up quickly the following day and made it fine for driving. The snow however made for some unusual photos of the area. It also made following the old right-of-way much easier. Our trip to tunnel 1 was bone-chilling as there was an extremely cold wind blowing at the site of the old railroad deck bridge and tunnel entrance. I also made it back over for the 15th annual ET&WNC Railroad Convention in June, but for some reason did not shoot any photos. Don't remember why...but I was there.
