Doe River At Tunnel 1 at Hampton, Tennessee
Looking down the Doe River underneath the current highway bridge you can see the arrangement of the still-standing old highway bridge built around 1915 and the 2 piers that held up the center span of the wood deck railroad bridge. These piers are about 140' apart. There's a great photo of all 3 bridges taken from the same vantage point in the Fall/Winter 2004 issue of the "Stemwinder". If you'd like to find out more, but don't have access to that issue, it's available here at this link. |
