Beech Mountain, North Carolina

Nothing to do with the ET&WNC, but this is all ET country. Here's the view of Beech Mountain, a skier's paradise, from the Best Western in Banner Elk. That hotel is our usual headquarters for the Historical Society Convention, but it also makes a good central location to stay any time I go up to the area. It's a 20 minute drive up to Beech. There's a great pizza place at the top, and Fred's Merchantile is not to be missed.
