Grandfather Mountain

The sun was going down fast, leaving us in shadow but still hitting Grandfather with that golden afternoon glow. And not a cloud in the sky that day. This is the view the engineer would have had on a similar day as his train clattered over West Fork and past the MacRae Lumber Operation climbing out of Linville on its way to Linville Gap.
