Old Highway 19E Bridge at Tunnel 1

I want to thank whoever cut back the foliage, it sure opened the vista here. When this bridge finally gives up during the next big flood, we'll have a much better view. Now if we could just catch those couple of large weeds right in the middle there....

Actually, I suspect that the powers that be may demolish it before it goes down by itself. They took down 2 other bridges along the ET&WNC that I know of that were just like this one.... the 19E bridge just downriver at Valley Forge and the one over the Linville River next to the Linville Depot. This particular bridge is holding up a 12 inch water main, I suspect that they'll move the water main if they suspect the bridge is in trouble.
