Cranberry Iron Mine at Cranberry, North Carolina
One of the Clinchfield hoppers that was being used by the 60s operation at the Cranberry Iron Mine location. They were used as...well...hoppers for the iron ore being taken out. Lots of old
machinery, motors, conveyors, trucks, powered hoists, bulldozers, magnetic
separators, crushers, etc. littered the area. All of this was scrapped
by Elizabethton Herb and Metal in the spring of 1997. Would like to have seen what all they took out of the mine area. All that's left is
the mine itself, and it's becoming more and more camoflauged every year.                        |
