Linville River Railway Bridge Abutment

Drive the old road out of Newland over to Minneapolis in the winter if you really want to be able to see the old railroad. This abutment just west of Newland is usually pretty well camouflaged in the summer, but it really reveals itself in the wintertime. The snow that hit the area the next day really highlighted the old right-of-way leading up to this bridge site. All those black rocks are tailings from Cranberry Mine.
