Doe River Gorge Wildlife

It's not called the Doe River for nothing. While shooting rock colors - I had missed the train by a few minutes and was on my own to walk up in the Gorge - I was sitting on a boulder at the retaining wall contemplating the scenery when I spotted this doe walking my way from the direction of tunnel 3. So I sat still just to see how close she'd get before she ran. I was in for a surprise because even after she realized I was there she walked on by, grazing and watching me at the same time. We studied each other and were each found to be harmless. I think there's so many people and noisy speeders and steam engines and diesel horns in the Gorge now that the wildlife has become used to it. Just hope the bears don't get this way.
