Old Highway 19E Bridge Over The Doe River at Tunnel 1

Now you can see what's inside this concrete arch bridge. These holes keep getting bigger as the dirt inside washes out with each big rain. Red dirt hasn't washed down inside the arches, red dirt is what they were filled with almost 100 years ago. That's the concrete box on the right that surrounds the 12 inch water main coming from Hampton. It was put in about 10 years ago. This concrete box may be the most stable thing about this whole bridge at the moment. I'll certainly say that the bridge has lasted much longer than I ever thought it would considering its condition.
