East Tennessee Railway
Armstrong switching. We have just stopped and uncoupled
the wood car in the middle of an intersection in Elizabethton.
We went down past the switch just to the left and ran around
to the side of the car. Now we're going to let the car drift
downhill to the left and go catch it and hook to the other end
to pull it down the siding we're on. Except that the car wouldn't
move. All 4 of us had to "get out and push" to get it going. But once
it started moving, "Katy, bar the door". It's amazing
how free rolling a car this heavy is on roller bearing trucks.
Anyway, we had a good time. At least John and I did.
