Roan Mountain

There wasn't a cloud in the sky on Sunday, so John Waite and I rode in his Mustang convertible to the top of Roan Mountain. The combination of high altitude (about 6500 feet) and noon day sun will burn you pretty quick, I found out. We actually got to the top this year, as opposed to the last time we went up there about 5 years ago in the fall. This photo is from the point where "Cloudland Hotel" was once located. It's on the Tennessee/North Carolina border. Roan High Peak (the highest part of Roan Mountain) is at the top of the green ridge, just out of the photo to the right. The views from up here are just gorgeous.
