Blevins Bridge on the ET&WNC
Here's the railroad bridge included in your drive of Old Railroad Grade Road. This is the bridge at Blevins, a re-purposed standard gauge thru truss bridge put in by the ET&WNC after the 1901 flood washed out all the wood bridges in the Gorge. This bridge was paved for county road use about 1960. It was freshly painted a few years after I shot this and had guardrails put in to replace the crumbling concrete curbs. Driving or walking across this bridge with no guardrails would give you a thrill. |
